Junior Phase: Meet the Teacher Information Evenings 2026-27

The Junior Phase was delighted to welcome parents and families to our annual ‘Meet the Teacher’ Information Evenings, with separate events held for Year 3 on Sunday 13 September, Year 4 on Monday 14 September and Year 5 on Tuesday 15 September. Across the three evenings, parents had the opportunity to meet members of the Junior Phase Leadership Team, learn more about life in the Junior Phase and visit their child’s classroom to find out more about the year ahead.
Each evening began in the Shakespeare Theatre, where parents were warmly welcomed by members of the Junior Phase Leadership Team. Over a cup of tea or coffee, parents listened to a presentation covering a range of important areas designed to help families understand how we support children throughout their time in the Junior Phase. Parents were introduced to the different members of staff who can support their children throughout the school year and were given practical advice about how they can support their children at home. The presentation also explored what our Soft Start looks like each morning in the Junior Phase. Parents were able to learn more about the wide range of activities available to children as they arrive at school, helping them to settle positively into the school day, reconnect with friends and prepare themselves for learning. The importance of sleep and healthy routines was also highlighted, with parents reminded of the significant impact that good quality sleep can have on children's wellbeing, behaviour, concentration and readiness to learn. Another important area discussed was our move towards Google Classroom, adding to the school’s existing VLE provision. Parents were given an overview of how Google Classroom will support communication, learning, and access to resources as we continue to develop our use of digital platforms across the Junior Phase. Following the presentation, parents were invited to visit their child's classroom and meet their child's teacher. This second part of the evening gave families the opportunity to see the learning environments first hand and hear more about what a typical day looks like in their child's classroom. Teachers shared their expectations for the children, explained the digital platforms used throughout the year and provided an insight into the fantastic range of subjects, topics and learning experiences that children will enjoy in the Junior Phase. Our teachers did an outstanding job preparing their classrooms and welcoming parents. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and knowledge helped to make each of the three evenings informative, engaging and positive. We were delighted to receive such positive feedback from parents, who commented on how useful it was to understand more about their child's day, the support available to them and the learning experiences they can look forward to throughout the year. A huge thank you to all of our Junior Phase staff for putting on such a fantastic series of events and to all of the parents who attended. We were delighted to welcome so many families and look forward to working together throughout the year to ensure that every child in the Junior Phase can belong, believe, and be you.
