Anti Bullying

BSK understands that only when all issues of bullying are addressed will pupils be able to fully benefit from the great opportunities available at an international school such as ours.

We define bullying as a persistent, deliberate attempt to threaten hurt or frighten someone, physically, verbally or mentally. Bullying can be short term or can continue over many years. It can be overt or subtle intimidation. It does not include occasional fighting or falling out between friends or peers. It does include cyber bullying, such as personal attacks on social networking sites such as Facebook.

• Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking and theft. 
• Verbal bullying includes name calling and racist remarks.
• Indirect bullying includes spreading rumours and excluding someone from social groups. 

To children, we explain that a person displaying bullying behaviour is someone who likes to make others feel frightened, sad or hurt and keeps on doing it. Sometimes they do it on their own and sometimes they might be part of a group. A person displaying bullying behaviour might try to make you too scared to tell an adult about what he or she is doing.  

The whole community has a responsibility to deal effectively with bullying and The British School of Kuwait will not shy from its responsibilities to teach and lead in this regard.
