Subject Awards

At our annual Awards Evening, held each Autumn, subject prizes are presented to the students who achieved the highest result in their year group in the internal end-of-year examination whilst in Years 6-8 in the preceding academic year. Subject commendations are presented to students who placed second in each subject. In the event of a tie, or for subjects which did not hold end-of-year examinations, formal assessment results are compared in reverse chronological order until a winner was identified. However, in Physical Education, the full skills rotation is considered. In the unlikely event of equal marks across all formal assessments, the subject team considers other differentiating factors. Subject prizes and commendations are also awarded to Year 11-13 students at our annual Festival of Achievement and Graduation Ceremony, held each April, and are based upon their performance in their mock and midyear examinations.

Excellence Awards

Excellence Awards  recognise the achievements of returning Year 7-9 students whose end-of-year reports contained A grades in at least 70% of their graded subjects. Excellence Award winners are all-round achievers across a range of subjects.

Those who gain A grades in at least 80% of their subjects are eligible for an Excellence Award with Merit (M) and those with at least 90% an Excellence Award with Distinction (D).

Special Awards

Secondary students are recognised annually for their accomplishments in areas such as academics, service and leadership, as well as specific fields such as creative arts, performing arts, languages, debating and Model United Nations to name but a selection. The highly coveted Head Teacher Awards and Founder’s Medal are a highlight of this section.

Housepoint Awards

Secondary students receive housepoints for their achievement and attitude in lessons, as well as for competitions, special achievements and service. Behaviour points are subtracted from positive housepoint totals, to obtain the net points for each student and Housepoint Award thresholds are based on the following net points totals:

Club Zero Awards

Secondary students who receive no negative points in any of Terms 1, 2, 3 or 4 receive 10 bonus housepoints for each term of ‘’Club Zero’ membership. Year 6 students, and those who are new to the school, have done particularly well if they manage to avoid any negative points during Term 1, so they receive 20 bonus points instead of the usual 10 for Term 1. This higher bonus does not apply to any student who leaves the school and then rejoins, or to any student who joins after Term 1.

School Colours

The Secondary leadership teams may award School Colours to any Year 6-13 student who, in their opinion, has represented the school or served the school community in an exceptional way.

The award is in the form of a tie with twin gold diagonal stripes. School Colours may be worn for the remainder of the student's time at the school.
