Spanish clubs take place during breaktimes and are communication based. We cover topics in accordance with the National Curriculum of England, including greetings, numbers, the alphabet, introducing yourself, home, family, food, free time, school and daily routine.
Verbs in the present, past and future tenses are covered as appropriate, and students are introduced to rules governing word order. Students use the school VLE to access documents, sound files and interactive websites.
Commitment and regular attendance are expected, and students are encouraged to learn around fifteen new words each week. Whilst there are no formal assessments or report grades, it is anticipated that many motivated students will eventually be able to gain a GCSE qualification in Spanish.
Students who have no prior knowledge of Spanish will attend the club with Mr Stuart Howard on Sundays during Secondary Break 3.
Students who either have a basic knowledge of Spanish or who attended Spanish club last year will attend the club with Miss Deborah Kremer on Thursdays during Secondary Break 3.
