The Secondary phase at The British School of Kuwait comprises the Middle Department (Years 6-8), Upper Department (Years 9-11) and Sixth Form (Years 12-13).
Our capable and dedicated teachers seek to develop in their students the attitudes, attributes, knowledge and skills that will prepare them for successful, fulfilling careers and personal lives.
To achieve this, mutual responsibility and teamwork are key. BSK is a learning community: teachers and students, working together.
Our teachers continually refine both their teaching skills and our programmes of study. They plan quality lessons which will engage every student, thereby maximising learning. They work diligently to mark work and feed back to students both their current level and practical, realistic steps by which they can make further progress.
In turn, students are required to trust their teachers, respond to guidance and work diligently. Good manners, self-discipline and sensitivity to others are expected. BSK students understand that they share with their teachers the responsibility to be honest, polite, kind and thoughtful.
The development of students’ extracurricular interests and skills is also very much encouraged, and we are justifiably proud of our expanding range of breaktime and afterschool clubs and activities. Collectively these serve to further enhance the breadth and roundedness of our educational provision.
The results are clear to see: most obviously in our students’ exceptional GCSE, IGCSE, AS and A Level grades, but even more importantly in terms of who they become by the time they leave for university: secure, confident young people who are ready and willing to make a positive impact on their world.
