Good behaviour is essential for good teaching and learning, but BSK’s Rewards and Sanctions Policy goes much further than just considering behaviour. Our teachers understand that the only truly effective discipline is self-discipline, and so they encourage this through every aspect of the curriculum and through the nature and tone of their daily interactions with students.
To promote good behaviour and thereby the development of the types of attitudes that enable students to grow towards responsible adulthood, all Secondary students must agree to and sign a simple Student Charter. The Secondary House Points system also encourages high achievement and positive attitudes.
Policies and procedures, such as our Homework Policy, Uniform Policy, all other Regulations and details of what constitutes Unacceptable Behaviour are published. All students should understand the school’s expectations.
BSK has also designed a comprehensive system of Rewards, to acknowledge and reinforce the types of actions and attitudes which we wish to promote as being in our students’ best interests, and Sanctions, to discourage the types of actions which stand in the way of positive educational experiences and outcomes.
