The school shall not be held responsible or liable for the loss of or damage to any item brought into school. Students must therefore take care of their belongings.
Students must therefore understand and follow these rules:
Any student who leaves property unattended or who breaks the bag box rules will be logged with -1 point. Their belongings may also be moved for safe-keeping to Lost Property, into a Department Coordinator's office or (if PE kit) into the PE office. Belongings which are moved into an office may only be retrieved at a time that suits the DC or PE staff. Any food or drinks which are left unattended may, for health and hygiene reasons, be disposed of. Any resultant inconvenience, lateness, uniform issues, lack of equipment, inability to complete work or any other consequence is the student's own responsibility.
Musical instruments may be left on top of lockers without the student being sanctioned for leaving property unattended, but it must be understood that this is at the student's own risk.
It is not possible for students to take their belongings into Department or House assemblies. Special arrangements must therefore apply.
If an assembly is scheduled to take an entire double period, students may either leave all of their belongings in their locker or, at their own risk, leave their belongings in their PSHE room.
If an assembly is scheduled to take only the first part of a double period, students should leave all of their belongings in their PSHE room after the bell signalling the end of the break immediately before the assembly.
Students should take all required equipment to their English lesson and leave it in the classroom while they are visiting the Library with their teacher.
Sixth Form students with practical science lessons spanning two lessons may, at their own risk, leave belongings in the laboratory during the intervening break. However, no belongings may be left in bag boxes outside the laboratories during the intervening break.
