Registration Enquiries

Parents wishing to enquire into registration for their children at The British School of Kuwait (BSK) should contact the Senior Registrar in the first instance.  The Senior Registrar will then:

  • Request some basic information including: your child’s name and date of birth, the name of the last school attended and the Year Group (The Registrar is able to advise on movement from a non-British system).
  • In the event of a registration enquiry for which the prospective student is outside Kuwait, the Registrar will ask for a completed registration form (a copy of which can be downloaded here) and the most recent school reports to be emailed. The Registrar will forward this information to the relevant Department Coordinator to seek provisional approval. If such approval is granted, a place in the Year Group will be reserved, subject to the receipt within seven days of 200 Kuwaiti dinars (KWD) to the Senior Bursar, if the parent is within Kuwait, or to the School account number (IBAN: KW56NBOK0000000000001005163402) if the parent is in another country. Upon the prospective student’s arrival in Kuwait, the normal admissions procedure must take place, including an admissions test (CAT or other). In the event that the prospective student does not pass the admissions procedure, a full refund of the KD200 will be made.
  • Enquiries to join the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13 for GCE AS/A2 courses) should be made with the Sixth Form Coordinator (SFC) in the first instance. The SFC will require details of performance at mock-GCSE/IGCSE for Year 12 and final GCSE/IGCSE and AS unit results for Year 13.
  • In the event of an enquiry from within Kuwait, the Registrar will ask for the same initial details as listed above. Additionally, the Registrar will require a photocopy of the student’s passport personal detail pages and a payment for the admissions tests (KD10 for Reception to Year 3 or KD20 for Years 4-11)

Admissions Tests

Appointments for admissions tests are made by a receptionist and the parent will be informed of a date and time.

The results of the admissions test are forwarded to the relevant Department Coordinator (DC).  The DC will contact parents with the result.  For successful students, an appointment will be made for an interview with the DC.  Following a successful outcome to the interview, the DC will accompany parents to the Registrar’s office for the completion of the registration process which involves:

  • Completion of a registration form* which must then be signed by the DC.
  • Payment of KD200 to the Senior Bursar as a non-refundable deposit.

*Parents have THREE working days from completion of the registration form to payment of the non-refundable deposit.  If parents do not pay the deposit on time the place cannot be guaranteed.

Re-registration

Early in Term 3, parents will receive notification of the deadline for re-registration which has been agreed with the Ministry of Private Education.  This date is always in the first week of April.

BSK guarantees to register students for the next academic year provided the student successfully completes the year and re-registers before the deadline. Should a parent fail to re-register a student before the deadline, BSK cannot guarantee a place. As BSK is Kuwait’s premier school and places are in high demand, we urge parents to re-register early.

Parents are required to visit the school and to meet with the Registrar. During the meeting, parents should update details on their child’s registration form and then visit the Senior Bursar to pay a non-refundable re-registration deposit of KD100 per student.
