BSK is a founder member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), a not-for-profit membership association. CIS defines standards and provides services that support the continuous improvement of international education.
BSK is a founder member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), one of the world's largest organisations for British Curriculum schools.
In 2013 and 2016, BSK was inspected by teams from Penta International, a UK Department for Education approved inspectorate, and granted 'British School Overseas' (BSO) status.

The British Science Association’s CREST Awards scheme recognises success, and enables students to build their skills through self-directed, scientific project work on areas of personal interest. The first group of BSK students to be involved in this initiative signed up for the Bronze Level programme in December 2015.
In 2015, BSK became the first school in Kuwait (and one of only a few international schools) to sign up to the BBC News School Report programme. This initiative gives 11-16 year olds the opportunity to research and produce news reports on a wide range of issues for a real audience.
Sports Leaders UK awards equip young people with a range of skils, improving motivation, self-esteem, communication skills, team work and confidence. Leadership volunteering is a key component of courses. In 2015, the first group of BSK sports leaders began working towards their qualifications.
The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) offers examinations in the full range of orchestral instruments, singing, theory of music and general musicianship. The British Council conducts ABRSM examinations using BSK's facilities.
