There are several ways students can get involved in maths outside of their lessons. The following clubs run on selected break times and there is a little something for everyone!
These run everyday during Break 3 in room WF02. Students can come along with any queries or questions they may have and ask one of our resident experts for some additional help. The club is run by volunteers from Years 10-13 who are working towards the service component of their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award as well as a different maths teacher each day. The help sessions are open to all Secondary students.
This club runs everyday during Break 3 in room WF07. Perudo is a fantastic game which utilises strategy and skill (and a certain amount of luck) to bluff your way through the rounds to be crowned the ultimate Perudo champion. A good grasp of probability will most definitely be useful for this, but no experience is required and all students are welcome to come along and try a game or two! Perudo Club is open to all Secondary students.
This club runs every Sunday during Break 2 in room WF03. The Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP) is a well-established examination designed to prepare the very best A Level students for the very best undergraduate mathematics courses. Here, students are able to explore some of the toughest questions available and see just how great they are at problem solving! This club is open to Sixth Form students who are looking to apply to mathematics undergraduate courses, as well as those who would just like to tackle some very demanding problems!
This club runs every Thursday during Break 2 in room WF07. Here, students face a multitude of both maths and logic problems which really stretch their thinking. This is a very hands on club and so their special awareness will most definitely be tested! MD Challenge is open to all students in the Middle Department.
