Ipad Minis are used in the Primary phase, with the focus on content creation as much as consumption. Students in Reception use school banks of Ipads whereas children in Years 1-5 bring their own covered device, which is connected to our school internet. No SIM cards are required.
Whilst apps for strands of numeracy and literacy are valuable we are just as keen that students learn to create their own content via apps such as Showbie, whereby homework can be logged and students teach each other through mini-tutorials.
Infants in Years 1 and 2 usually store their Ipads at school during the week so as to minimise the potential for damage or loss during movement to and from school. Junior Department students normally bring theirs every day.
Students are taught to care for their device and are advised on internet safety.
