The British School of Kuwait prides itself on the rounded education that it seeks to offer to students of all ages, and has therefore developed an extensive range of extracurricular activities.
In recent years the growing number of carefully conceived and executed overseas visits to places such as the United Kingdom, China, Italy, Thailand, France, India, Cyprus and Switzerland have enriched diverse aspects of the curriculum – most notably Biology, Humanities, English, Drama, Modern Foreign Languages and PE.
BSK also boasts a growing range of break-time and after-school clubs and activities, staffed by teachers on a volunteer basis and attesting to their foresight, commitment and selflessness. These include the Chess Club, Scrabble Club, Design and Technology Club, Science Club and Maths Club.
Over 250 students have participated in the International Award for Young People while 700 students have taken LAMDA (London Academy for Music and Dramatic Art) examinations and the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) examinations.
Our Injaz young enterprise groups have done extremely well in recent years, as have students involved in Model United Nations and Robotics, which has included competitions in Qatar.
Students take part in inter-school competitions in a wide range of subject areas. Recent successes have included trophies in the ISACK (International Schools Activities Conference Kuwait) tournaments as well as the winner’s cup in the Kuwait Schools Debating Championship and several first prizes at the Young Musicians of the Gulf Competition in Bahrain.
A growing number of BSK students participate in community events at the highest level while the BSK Concert Orchestra and the chamber orchestra La Camerata receive regular requests to perform at public and private events.
BSK is continuing to provide opportunities for our students to enter competitions, having seen significant success in the Radisson BLU and Viva art competitions, Qur’an and Hadith competitions, the national and international Chopin music competitions and the Top 100 Scientists competition.
All students are encouraged to get involved in at least one extracurricular activity. With this much on offer, thankfully that isn't too difficult!
