Design and Technology Rules
CLASSROOM RULES
Only enter a Design and Technology workshop when there is a teacher present.
Place all bags in the designated area to avoid becoming a trip hazard.
Never run in a Design and Technology workshop.
Always follow the instructions given by a teacher and be familiar with all safety signs.
Drinking water is only permitted at the desecration of the teacher.
Eating is strictly forbidden in the DT workshop.
If moved stools should be placed where they do not become a trip hazard.
Organise your work area carefully to prevent accidents.
To prevent becoming a trip hazard make sure that computer cables and extension leads and securely and safely positioned.
WORKSHOP RULES
List only the main ideas.
Handling all equipment should be under the instruction of a responsible adult.
Carry all equipment and materials carefully with regard for those around you.
When using power tools, you must always wear safety goggles and an apron. Make sure that long hair and loose clothing are secured.
Any spills should be reported immediately.
Report any broken tools or breakages to the teacher.
Notify an adult of any injuries sustained so first aid rules can be applied if required.
When working with mechanical tools always observe the safety line and do not cross until directed to by an adult.
Place tools in the centre of workbenches to prevent them rolling onto the floor.
All work and tools must be neatly cleared away at the end of the lesson.
When working with the mechanical tools be aware if the emergency stop button is pressed you must immediately step beyond the safety hazard line.
If in doubt, ask!
