Mr John Talbot BEd(Hons)Chair of Creative ArtsDirector of Curriculum Music
John graduated from Cambridge University in 1998. He taught in Britain for two years before relocating to the Gulf – originally to St Christopher’s School in Bahrain. John arrived at BSK in 2003. He is a keen double bass player and has an eclectic musical taste. In his spare time, John enjoys travelling and developing his clarinet and French horn playing.

Dr Dan Marsh BSc(Hons) PhDArt, Design and Technology Coordinator
Dan is an expert in optics, has a passion for photography and enjoys capturing the play of light in freer mediums such as pencil or acrylics. After his PhD, Dan spent three years at the University of Bristol studying textiles, fibres and plastics. Dan’s deep understanding of the fundamental nature of light and its interaction with surfaces and pigments is invaluable to him in his art. He feels strongly that art and science are highly complimentary. Dan travels widely, usually with camera in hand. He is a keen amateur dramatist with an eye for set design. He plays guitar and will sing if no one is listening!

Mr David Allcock CertEd PGCEDrama Coordinator
David, following a family tradition that goes back a long way, has been involved with the theatre for as long as he remembers – a long time! He has taught Drama in every school in which he has worked and still, in – as he puts it – the twilight of a long career, enjoys the thrill of introducing young people to the joys of performing. His major interest outside the theatre is the renovation of his family home in southern France.

Mr Howard Banks BEd(Hons) MEdAssistant Design and Technology Coordinator
Howard is a teacher with many years' experience of teaching across a wide range of disciplines. He trained initially to teach Craft and Design, focusing mainly on furniture design and creative studies at Birmingham University School of Education. This was followed later by a BEd(Hons) degree in Technology for Schools at Nottingham Trent University and an MEd in Management and Technology at the University of Birmingham.

Mr Philip Smith LRAM LTCL PGCE Director of Performance Music
Philip graduated from Huddersfield School of Music and subsequently Birmingham Conservatoire. He is a trumpet and guitar specialist, classical guitar being his main passion. After teaching in various schools and music services around the UK, Philip joined BSK in 2008. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, composing and travelling.

Mr Preslav Petkov BA MA LRSM Director of the Orchestra
Preslav is a specialist clarinet and saxophone player. He graduated in 1999 with a BA and in 2001 with an MA, both from the National Music Academy, Sofia. He then joined the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Sofia as a clarinettist. Preslav joined The British School of Kuwait in 2004 as a woodwind tutor, teaching a wide range of instruments: clarinet, flute, saxophone and recorder. In 2010 he was awarded a Licentiate of the Royal School of Music (LRSM) in clarinet and is currently working towards his Fellowship (ABRSM) Diploma.

Miss Galina Bojhilova MA BA DipHE Director of String Ensembles
Galina graduated from the Music High School in Plovdiv in1986 as a teacher of violin and music. She subsequently graduated from the Academy for Music and Dancing Art where she specialised in musical pedagogy and aesthetics. Galina specialises in orchestral conducting and playing, including appearances with the National Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra. She joined BSK in 2001 as a strings tutor and is now Director of String Ensembles.

Mr Robert Jones BEng PGCEDesign and Technology Teacher
Mr Robert Jones graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Swansea and gained his teaching qualification from Huddersfield University. He taught Design and Technology at a high school in north Wales, before becoming a Year 5 class teacher with responsibilities for Art, ICT and D&T. Robert moved to Kuwait in 2009 to become a specialist Design and Technology teacher at BSK. His personal interests include chess, cricket and reading.

Miss Jane Welch BEdCeramics and Primary Teacher
Jane graduated with a degree in Education in which her main subject was Art and Craft, specialising in Ceramics. She taught for many years in the southeast of England, mainly in preparatory schools. 2001 heralded a move to Wales where she gained experience in teaching students from Key Stages 1 through 4. Jane's personal interests include outdoor pursuits such as horse-riding and walking, a variety of art/craft activities and photography.

Miss Boryana Petkova BA MA Music Tutor
Boryana graduated from the National Rousse School of Arts as a piano teacher. In 2006 she completed her MA diploma in the National Music Academy in Sofia. She joined BSK in 2006, teaching piano and accompanying soloists and ensembles.

Miss Anna Karadimitrova BA MEd Music Tutor
Anna graduated from the National Music Academy in Sofia and further specialised her studies at the European Opera Centre in Manchester, United Kingdom. In 2004 she was awarded a Masters Degree in Music Education from Sofia University. She has had leading roles in a variety of operas and operettas, and has taken part in touring productions in the UK, Spain, Greece and Japan. In 2004 Anna joined the BSK Music Team as vocal instructor and choir director.
