As part of the Student leadership Programme the Primary children are invited to contribute to worthy causes. Deliberately avoiding donations of money, the appeals are introduced to children in assemblies, where they are asked to discuss issues and a possible contribution with their families.
Previous appeals have included emergency relief for floods, earthquakes and tsunamis and the donation of lightly used toys for less privileged children. This year was a shoe box collection, where children were invited to donate a shoe box filled with simple toiletries such as a tooth brush, paste and soap.
Hundreds of boxes were collected and donated to operation Hope, a local charity. The picture below shows the Headteacher at the official handover of the boxes with Sheryll Mairza (founder) and Nabeela (Director and Volunteer Coordinator).
