The BSK Campus

The British School of Kuwait is conveniently located in the suburb of Salwa. The campus is prominent from Road 30, the Fahaheel Expressway, and straddles Street 1 in Area 1, between Road 213, Al Aqsa Mosque Street, and Road 214, Salwa Street.

To the west of Street 1, the campus consists of the following, north to south:

  • The Royal Scot, which is the School’s shop, selling items of uniform, stationery, textbooks and other resources.  The Royal Scot is in the Balmoral Building, which also houses Year 2 classrooms, the Library and rooms dedicated to Business Subjects.
  • The Outer Courtyard, a large covered playground, and the Swimming Pool Complex.
  • The Main Building, the largest on the campus.  This three-storey square building houses most classrooms and at the centre of which is the Inner Courtyard.  In addition to general classrooms for Reception to Year 5, there are also specialist rooms for the teaching of English, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Chemistry and Physics. The roof houses two courtyards, North and South, as well as a canteen for the use of Year 6-9 students. Administrative functions include the Front Desk, Bursary, Registration Office, Accounts and interview rooms. At the heart of the building is the Shakespeare Theatre which is home to assemblies, productions and other events.
  • Park Lane is where school buses arrive and depart.
  • The White House is a large villa complex that contains a variety of support services and specialist rooms. The main offices for the Director, CEO, Principal and Head Teachers are located here. Personal Assistant locations and Ministry liaison offices are also located here along with specialist teaching rooms for Biology, Design and Technology, Drama and Dance. The John Lennon music studio, other specialist Music rooms including a recording studio, and the Lowry Gallery are also based in The White House. The roof accommodates a break area for Years 10 and 11, together with their canteen. The Transport Office is located at the front of the White House, fronting onto Street 1.
  • A second complex of villas lies to the south of the White House but in the space between are found a Jungle Gym for younger students and the Portman Building, which accommodates large classrooms for Geography and History.
  • The second villa complex consists of three buildings.  To the east, Euston is the home of Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography and Textiles. In the centre, Chequers contains the Britannia Sixth Form Centre, boys' changing rooms and the PE Office. To the west, Whitehall is dedicated to Music.
  • South of this is the hanger-like Marble Arch, a cavernous multi-purpose arena.  The access road to the south of the Marble Arch is owned by BSK.

To the east of Road 1, the campus includes other divisions of our parent company, British International. From south to north, these include:

  • The Sunshine Kindergarten (TSK), a purpose-built specialist centre for students from crèche to kindergarten. Opened in 2009, this state-of-the-art building also houses BSK’s examination rooms, dance studios and culinary teaching centre.
  • Fleet Street, a villa housing British International Media and Communications (BIMC), our corporate design company.
  • Box Office, a further villa housing offices of The British Academy of International Arts (BAIA) and The British Academy of Sport (BAS).
  • Further buildings on this side of Street 1 house BSK's workshops.

There are many ways to display the campus but an interesting way is to use a design based on the London Underground system.
