Dr David Williams BSc(Hons) PhD PGCE
Biology Coordinator

David studied Biochemistry at the University of Glasgow before obtaining a PhD for his research on hepatitis B virus. He then carried out further research at the University of Dundee into cell signalling and the development of cancer and has published several research articles from this work. He has been teaching Biology at BSK since 2005 and is the current Subject Coordinator of Biology. His interests include cycling, hill-walking, swimming and improving his Arabic, which he studied for two years in Oman.

Mr John Lambert BSc(Hons) MBA PGCE

Upper Department Coordinator
Biology and Science Teacher

John graduated in Applied Biology from the University of Hull and obtained his PGCE at the University of Cambridge. His MBA is in Educational Management. John moved to Kuwait in 1995 and joined BSK as Biology Coordinator in 2005, becoming Upper Department Coordinator in 2006 and Assistant Head Teacher in 2012. A major strand of John's work is to develop educational and vocational links within Kuwait and internationally. His personal interests include running and current affairs.

Miss Alya Muflihi BSc(Hons) MSc PGCE
Student Performance Coordinator
Biology and Science Teacher

Alya graduated in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham respectively, and then returned to Birmingham to obtain her teaching qualification. She taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics in England for five years and then moved to Kuwait in 2006. Before being appointed to her current management role, Alya served as Biology Coordinator, Health and Safety Coordinator and Chair of Science. Her personal interests include reading, languages and playing the oboe.

Mr Edward Salvesen BSc(Hons) PGCE
Biology and Science Teacher

Edward read Tropical Environmental Science at the University of Aberdeen and obtained his Secondary Science teaching qualification from the University of Reading. After five years teaching all three sciences in the UK, he taught in Thailand for two years and in 2008 he moved to Kuwait. During Edward's teaching career he has held management roles including Head of Biology and Head of Year. His personal interests include photography, travel and playing sports such as football, netball and golf.
