'Splash' was the title and how appropriate it was. The Reception art exhibition, held in the Euston Gallery, showcased the creative talents of our EYFS children as they worked in the style of well known painters such as Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock and Mondrian.
Aligned with the principles of child initiated learning, students were introduced to the different styles, then set free to request materials and use them according to their own preferences, exploring texture, colour and pattern as they happily filled canvases, painted over images of their classmates and applied their interpretations to clay resources.
Many of the pieces were collaborative and make splendid eye-catching displays. Though many managers would like them in their offices and hallways the Reception children, having learned about the difficulties in Nepal following the recent earthquakes, have decided to offer them for sale to the highest bidders.
In this way they feel their art will build an even greater legacy. Well done children and the Reception teachers and teaching assistants. We're very proud of you!
