An excellent set of individual and team performances allowed BSK to return to Kuwait with numerous pieces of silverware after an excellent U15 BSME Tournament hosted by St Christopher’s School, Bahrain. On day 1, the boy’s squad demonstrated their undoubted qualities, negotiating themselves out of a very hard group stage by winning four of their five fixtures. A battling 1-0 victory over local rivals KES in the semi-final led to an opportunity to take on favourites and hosts St Christopher’s in the final. BSK maintained their composed style of play in the final, beating St Chris 2-0 with Mihail Vizitiu and Joseph Burgan scoring the goals.
Success for the girl’s team came on day 2 in the netball, where they finished second in the group with four victories, only losing to a strong St Chris’ side. However, they got the chance for revenge in the final (after beating Al Khor International in the semi-final), and they dominated from the first whistle, taking the match 5-2, with Anja Knjazeva the main point scorer.
Strong individual performances on day 3 in the athletics ensured BSK took home more medals. Donaven Lobo, the youngest member of the squad, was excellent in the long jump and took a silver medal, and Nathan Gevao also took silver in the high jump. All members of the squad finished their events, again highlighting the determination and qualities of the squad who travelled. Overall, an excellent showcase of BSK talent against twelve of the biggest schools around the Gulf.
